Peter Cat Café is a rebranding project for a well loved Malvern brunch spot. The new owner wanted the café to have a clearer personality, a stronger sense of community, and an identity that felt fresh and inviting for younger locals. Cwerky Studio developed a cohesive brand experience built around Peter Cat as a warm and charismatic chef who loves feeding the diverse people of Malvern.
The visual identity feels friendly, colourful and a little whimsical, while still staying true to the character of the neighbourhood. Every element, from the mural and the illustrated personas to the packaging and social templates, was created to make the café feel welcoming, instagramable, and the place people go to for their daily coffee fix.
Brand IDENTITY
The brand identity was designed to feel instantly recognisable while remaining flexible across physical and digital spaces. The logo system balances confidence and approachability, using bold typography, soft curves, and a warm colour palette that reflects the café’s personality and neighbourhood context.
Illustration played a central role in shaping the identity, allowing Peter Cat to move beyond a static logo and become a character customers could connect with. The visual language was built to feel playful and expressive without losing clarity, ensuring the brand translated seamlessly across signage, packaging, interiors, and social media.
This approach helped position Peter Cat as a chic yet colourful café that feels modern, welcoming, and rooted in the everyday rhythms of Malvern.
Our APPROACH
To strengthen its role as a neighbourhood hub, we introduced a cast of illustrated personas inspired by local regulars, celebrating the community and making the space feel welcoming to everyone. Every touchpoint, from the mural to the packaging and digital presence, was crafted to help customers feel at home and part of the Peter Cat community.
Print & Merchandise Design
Print and merchandise were designed as extensions of the brand experience rather than standalone items. From menus and coffee cups to tote bags and apparel, each piece was treated as an opportunity to reinforce Peter Cat’s personality and sense of community.
The designs balance practicality with charm, combining bold typography, illustration, and colour to create pieces that customers want to hold onto and share. Merchandise was also considered with scalability in mind, allowing the brand to expand into new formats while maintaining a consistent look and feel.
Together, these touchpoints help Peter Cat live beyond the café walls and become part of customers’ everyday routines.
Our strategy centred on giving Peter Cat a character of his own, a friendly chef who loves feeding a diverse community and brings warmth and charm into the everyday coffee run. We built a visual identity that captured the heart of the café: warm, friendly, a little whimsical, and unmistakably Malvern.
Social Media Design
Social media was approached as a storytelling platform rather than just a promotional tool. We developed a cohesive visual system that translated the brand’s warmth and personality into posts, reels, and campaigns, ensuring consistency across formats while leaving room for spontaneity.
Illustration, motion, and typography were used to create recognisable content that feels current without chasing trends. Animated elements and GIFs added energy and playfulness, helping the brand stand out in fast-moving feeds while still feeling considered and intentional.
This strategy allowed Peter Cat to build a strong digital presence that mirrors the in-store experience and keeps the community engaged beyond the café.
